Frequently Asked Questions

We are often asked...

1. How does a backyard hibachi party work?

Your chef arrives about 30 minutes before dinner to set up a professional teppanyaki grill. Once guests are seated, the chef cooks every course in front of them with a live show: fire, tricks and plenty of jokes.

2. What do we need to provide as hosts?

It depends on the package, so check yours first. Usually hosts provide tables, chairs, plates, utensils, napkins and drinks. We bring the grill, the chef, the rice, vegetables, proteins, side salad and sauces.

3. Can you cook indoors?

Outdoor cooking is strongly recommended because the grill makes open flame, smoke and steam. Backyards, patios, driveways, decks and well-ventilated open garages all work. Indoor cooking is only possible after we confirm ventilation and safety with you.

4. What is the minimum guest count or price?

Pricing is per person: Classic $55, Premium $70, Luxury $85. Children 5 and under are $5 each. Every booking has a $600 minimum spend, so smaller groups can still book. Travel fees and gratuity are not part of the minimum.

5. What if it rains?

We cook rain or shine, but the cooking station must be fully covered. A tent, canopy, gazebo, covered patio or open garage works. If there is no shelter and the weather is severe, we help you reschedule based on availability.

6. Can you handle allergies and dietary needs?

Yes. Tell us about allergies or diets when you book, such as gluten-free, shellfish, peanut or vegetarian. For gluten-free guests we bring gluten-free tamari and cook on a cleaned, separate section of the grill.

7. Do you charge a travel fee?

Travel is free within 20 miles. For addresses farther away, customer service confirms any travel fee from your event address before the booking is final.

8. How do deposits, payment and gratuity work?

A $50 deposit holds your date. It is refundable if you cancel more than 72 hours before the event. One reschedule can be requested, based on availability. The balance is paid on-site after the party by cash, card, Zelle or Venmo. An 18 to 20% gratuity for the chef is standard and appreciated.

9. How do Hibachiflame member points work?

Membership is free and starts with 100 welcome points. You earn 1 point for every $1 you actually pay on completed bookings. Points can take up to 10% off a future booking. See the Rewards page for details.

10. What is Member Day?

On the 15th of every month, members get 10% off their booking, up to $100. Member Day savings and points redemption cannot be combined on the same booking.
